Laura grew up exploring the forest outside her parents’ home and the imaginary worlds inside her head. After graduating cum laude with a BA in English and creative writing from the University of Colorado-Boulder, she took a job teaching English in Florence, Italy. It was in the Tuscan hills where she decided to pursue a career in writing, and so she returned home to begin writing what would become her first novel for young adults, WHEN THERE WAS MAGIC. She’s been fortunate to attend some great workshops along the way, including the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and Paris Writers’ Workshop summer programs. She now balances her writing day with music, adventure, and more writing as the managing editor and feature writer for the award-winning Affinity magazine.
